About Amish Treasures

Amish Treasures is owned and operated by Dale and Peggy Anderson of Warrens, Wisconsin. Their daughter, Carrie, wanted to have a cranberry store in Wisconsin Dells. Carrie wanted a place where she could educate people about Wisconsin’s #1 fruit crop which her family has been growing for six generations. Dale and Peggy became part of an investor group that built the Cranberry Country Plaza. Carrie opened the Cranberry Connections, gift shop in the center of the Plaza in August of 2004. As part of the investor group the Andersons were eager to see all three store fronts occupied. When two sat vacant, they decided to fill one with a store of their own. An Amish furniture and gift store made sense, because it – like Cranberry Connections- features high-quality, Wisconsin-made goods. On March 1, 2005, the decision was made to make it happen. “It just seemed to fall together.” A friend who gives tours of the Amish community near Cashton introduced Peggy to the area crafts people who were eager to get their products into another market. With the help of many family and friends, Amish Treasures opened on May 28, 2005.

Peggy never dreamed she’d be the proprietor of an Amish store. In 2001 Peggy retired from running the Cranberry Expo, a cranberry museum and gift shop. With the help of her family, Peggy opened the Cranberry Expo in August of 1989 in a specially built building on the family cranberry marsh. The Expo had 9,720 square feet dedicated to showing the progress of the machinery and growing practices used on Wisconsin cranberry marshes from 1853 to the present. The Expo also included a gift shop full of cranberry items including: mustards, catsups, jellybeans, craft items, cranberry glassware and cranberry ice cream and pie. Peggy ran the Expo until 2001 when the family gave it to the Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association.

Dale and Peggy continue to live on the Potter Cranberry Company marsh near Warrens. Dale helps haul the furniture to the store when he is not busy hauling fertilizer to the cranberry growers, hauling cranberries, or working on the farm. Their daughter, Carrie married Galen Betz in 2005, together they own and operate Cranberry Connections. Check it out at www.cranberryconnections.com.

Dale and Peggy’s son, Clinton, is working at the Kraft Headquarters in Chicago where he is the Digital File Manager. His job is to keep track of and make available all the artwork used by Kraft for product labeling and promotions.

The family enjoys promoting high-quality Wisconsin made products and helping everyone have a great time while they are in the Wisconsin Dells area.
